Himalayan Chocolate & Lilac Color Description
Color descriptions with photo comparison

You do not determine your cats color merely by looking at the coat and reading color descriptions. On occasion I've actually come across new breeders to the cat fancy not familiar with these colors do just that. For example, one had a rusty black Persian (loved to sleep near a sunny window) which looked alot like a chocolate to them. Another had a blue Persian with a fevercoat (very pale blue coat) leading them to believe they had a lilac. Another had a tortoiseshell with high amounts of cream, red and the black areas tinged with a rusty color causing them to believe they had a chocolate tortoiseshell. To produce chocolate/lilac offspring "both" parents must be or carry this color. A choc/lilac mated with a non-choc/lilac will produce all carriers.
